I'm not sure if my child needs help
Not knowing where to start is completely normal. Many parents sense that something is "a bit off" but can't pinpoint what. That's exactly what the Ask Carri tools are for. Start with the age milestones tool - it'll give you a clear picture of what's typical for your child's age, and help you identify any areas worth looking at more closely.
What an OT looks for in this area
- •Whether any developmental areas are lagging behind peers
- •How the child functions across home, school, and social contexts
- •Whether any concerns are causing the child or family distress
- •The gap between what the child can do and what's expected for their age

Use the milestone tool first
Go to the milestone checker and work through your child's age group. Tick off what they can do - the results will guide you to any areas worth focusing on.
Observe and note
For one week, note any moments of difficulty or frustration. What triggers them? What time of day? What's the environment like? This information is gold for any OT review.
